Birds of Florida

Birds of Florida represent a diverse subset of Florida wildlife.  Venice Florida alone is home to thousands of species from seagulls to birds of prey.  It doesn’t matter what type of Venice FL real estate you purchase, the birds of Florida surround us.  In residential neighborhoods like The Lakes of Jacaranda, one will see dozens of species while outdoors..  Just today, this writer viewed a great heron, Ibis, crows, cardinals, hawks, ducks, and osprey while walking the dog.  Golf course communities like Venice Golf and Country Club have a diversity of species including aquatic fowl, sandhill cranes and bald eagles.  

If you have ever made the mistake of dropping food while eating at the beach, you will be inundated with swooping seagulls.  Any fisherman is familiar with the friendly pelican.  They float in the water waiting for the opportunity to steal your catch or bait.

Birds of prey fare well in Florida as there is a constant supply of food year round.  Osprey, Hawks, Bald Eagles, Owls, and more hunt for their next meal.

Many of the birds of Florida reside here year round.  Others are migratory and fly south as temperatures cool off to the north.
